Setup

Get started with your Cension workspace by setting up your account, organization, and projects.

Overview

Introduction to the setup process.

Setting up your Cension workspace involves three key steps: creating your account, configuring your organization, and setting up projects. This guide will walk you through each step to get you started with data management and AI enrichment.

What you'll learn

  • Account setup: How to sign up, log in, and manage your account security.
  • Organization management: Understanding organizations, roles, permissions, and member management.
  • Project creation: How to create and organize your data projects within organizations.

Once you've completed these setup steps, you'll be ready to start importing data and using Cension's AI-powered features.

Cension supports secure access via Email/Password and Google OAuth.

Sign up & login

  • Sign up: Create a new account.
    • -New users: By default, a "Personal Workspace" organization and "My First Project" are created for you.
    • -Invitations: If you sign up using an email that has a pending organization invitation, you will automatically join that organization.
  • Login: Access your existing account.
    • -Google OAuth: Click "Continue with Google" for one-click access.
    • -Redirects: If you were trying to access a specific resource (like a shared library), you will be redirected there after logging in.

Organization

Manage your organizations, members, and organization settings.

Everything in Cension happens within a Project, which belongs to an Organization. Organizations allow you to collaborate securely and manage billing collectively.

Roles & permissions

Collaborate securely by assigning roles to your organization members:

  • Owner: Full control. Manages billing, organization settings, and cannot be removed.
  • Admin: Manages organization resources. Can Invite and Remove members, but cannot modify billing or delete the organization.
  • Member: Can create/edit datasets and view organization resources. Cannot manage users, billing, or API keys.

Managing members

Navigate to Settings > Members.

  • Invite: Admins can invite new users by email. The user will receive an email with a setup link.
  • Remove: Admins can remove members. Removing a user immediately revokes their access, but preserves their datasets within the workspace.

Organization settings

Navigate to Settings > Organization settings.

  • Display name: Update your organization's name to reflect your brand.
  • Brand guidelines: Upload shared brand guides or define global prompts to ensure consistent AI outputs across your organization.

Organization assets

  • API Keys: Navigate to Settings > API keys to manage programmatic access tokens.
  • Static parameters: Navigate to Settings > Static parameters to define global constants (e.g., "Tone of Voice") referenced in AI columns.

Organization billing

Billing is centralized at the Organization level. All members share the same Subscription plan, credit limits, and row quotas. To manage this, navigate to the Subscription tab.

Projects

Create and manage your projects within organizations.

Everything in Cension happens within a Project, which belongs to an Organization.

Header controls

  • Organization selector: Click the organization name (top-left) to switch organizations.
  • Project selector: Click the project name (next to organization) to: Switch between existing projects. Create new project (using the + icon).

Creating projects & organizations

  • New project: Click the + in the project selector. Enter a Project Name in the popup. *Note*: If you don't select a specific organization, it defaults to "Personal Projects".
  • New organization: Use the organization selector to create a new organization. Subscription notice: Remember that subscriptions are tied to the organization level. All projects within an organization share the same plan and credit limits.
